Coaching Philosophy Expectations: o We expect every player to be on-time o If practice starts at 7:00 pm, we expect every player to be dressed and ready to go at 6:50 pm o Any missed practices or games must be approved by the coaching staff o Excused absence • If you are too sick to go to school, you will not participate/practice or play in a game o Examples of unexcused absences: o I have tickets to a Cavs Game o I have dodge ball o I have a date with my girlfriend o I have a driving test o Get your homework completed in between the end of school and practice
Coaching Philosophy Leadership, Commitment & Culture: o Team Chemistry • Critical for the short-term and long-term success o Preparation • FILM, Scouting Reports, Conditioning, Wall Ball o Team First • We believe in playing as a team, which means no one is more important than the team o Analytics • Measurable GOALS • Managing the GAME o We will win as a team and lose as a team o We expect 100% effort out of every player
Coaching Philosophy Helmets: o Team helmets = White & Orange Cascade R o Communication via email will go out to all players and parents with the link to order helmets o Cost is around $175 with our discount o Decals/Helmet wrap will be supplied
Coaching Philosophy Game & Practice Uniform: o Home & Away Jerseys will be provided for both Varsity & JV o Every player is expected to wear team practice gear Practice Pinnie will be provided Must wear: Black practice shorts White socks White under shirt or shooting shirt
Coaching Philosophy Playing Time: o Merit Based System 1. Team Development • We may ask certain players to switch positions • We will play the best players regardless of grade 2. Playing to Win 3. Best Interest in the TEAM o Grievances - We ask that you please understand that we have only the best interest of the team in mind We will handle all issues Player to Coach • • During the season we will not discuss playing time with any parent • During a game the field and bench area is reserved for team personnel only
Off-Season Open Gyms ( Fall & Winter): Attendance is not mandatory (OHSAA) No scoring or timekeeping is permitted (OHSAA) Coach may not have organizational or instructional contact with participants (OHSAA) Coach may not participate in designating who is to play on which teams (OHSAA) Coach or supervisor may participate in play The frequency of open gym will depend on who is able to make it. We will target 3-4 per month Conditioning = we are expecting every player to be in shape 1 st Practice = Conditioning Test • • Spring Break = Conditioning Test after Spring Break
Communication Stay Connected: The Chagrin Athletic site will provide the most current information for players and parents. If you have not signed up, please do so. The rosters, schedules and most recent updates will be posted there throughout the season.
