Conference Board of Canada’s Perspective • Diverse economy will allow Oshawa to ride out manufacturing storm • General Motors’ will affect drag on the economy in 2020 • However, the economy will quickly recover in 2021 • Several attributes that support economic transition • Steadily moving toward more services-based industries • Since 2005 - the services sector created 56,600 new jobs - the goods sector lost 8,700 positions • Services now account for four out of five jobs.
