Roma - Laura Nola anbimail@anbi.it IRRINET SAVES WATER IRRINET is an expert system for irrigation developed by Consorzio di bonifica Canale Emiliano Romagnolo with the support of Region Emilia-Romagna and U.E. IRRINET is used on 160,000 hectars (23% of regional irrigation surface). IRRINET improves irrigation by saving 15 – 25 % waters and also increasing the quantity and quality of agricultural production. IN 2007 and 2008 8,000 FARMERS USING IRRINET HAVE SAVED 50 MILLIONS m 3 WATER/YEAR. Less water, less energy, better income for farmers. A.D.A. conference 2010 A.N.B.I. They produce in total 291,000,000 KWh/year (equivalent to 54,246 oil tons). Consorzio Est Sesia (Piemonte) has 29 hydroelectric stations producing 116,000,000 KWh/year.
