449 MARF AVE, MISSISSAUGA, ON L5G 1T4 BUILDING RENOVATION PAGE | 01 DESIGN CONCEPT HENRY MATTHEW SILVA FROM THE 1 1/2 STOREY EXISTING RESIDENCE BUILDING, LOCATED IN MISSISAUGA, ON, WE ARE CHALLENGE TO RENOVATE THIS 30+ YEAR HOME INTO A MORE MODERN SUSTAINABLE DESIGN. ONE WHERE WE TAKE ADVANTAGE OF WHAT WE HAVE AND HOW WE 'VE USE IT.BASED ON OUR CLIENTS NEEDS WE FIRST PLAN BLOCK #1 - FATHER BLOCK #1 - MOTHER THE MASSING OF THE NEW BUILDING. DURING THIS PHRASE WE ANALYSIS AND STRATEGIES THE BEST PLAN THAT WOULD FIT A TYPICAL FAMILY OF 4. IN THIS CASE WE TOOK 4 MASSES AND ASSIGN THEM ROLES AS SEEN IN THE MODEL. WE BREAKDOWN THE NEWLY RENOVATED HOME BY FAMILY MEMBER TITLE SUCH AS THE TALL STONE WALL REPRESENTS THE FATHER. BASE ON SOCITY AND BLOCK #2 - SON HISTORY MOST CAN UNDERSTAND THAT THE ROLE OF A FATHER IS TOO STAND FOR HIS FAMILY, UNITING, LOVING AND RESPECTING THEIR OWN ROLES AND IT PLAYS A LARGE PART IN THE FAMILY DYNAMICS. FOLLOWING THAT WE HAVE THE MOTHER WHO IS REPREENTED AS THE LEFT BACK SIDE'S WOOD SIDING WALL. AGAIN SOCITY AND HISTORY PLAY A PART IN THIS AS WELL .THE ROLE OF THE MOTHER IS TO BE SUPPORTIVE TO THAT OF HER FAMILY AND TO LET THEM KNOW THAT SHE WILL ALWAYS STAND WITH, FOR AND BY THEM. NEXT, IS THE OLDER MATURE AND REPSONAIBLE SON WHO MANY FATHER CAN RELIBLE ON PROTECTING THE FAMILY IN THEIR STEAD. THIS IS BEST RERESENTED AS THE RAMMED EARTH ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE BUILDING. LAST TO NOT LEAST WE HAVE THE DAUGHTER WHICH IS REPRSENTED AS THE EXISTING BUILDING TO SYMBOLIZE THAT THOUGHT SMALL IN COMPARE TO THAT OF HER OTHER FAMILY BLOCK #1 - DAUGHTER MEMBER SHE TOO PLAYS A BIG PART IS CONNECTING ONE ANOTHER. FROM BREAKING DOWN THE DESIGN CONECPT TO PIECES AND THEIR RESPECTIVE SIGNIFICANCE WE NOW MOVE ON INTO THE MATERIALS USE AND HOW WE'VE DECIDED TO MAKE THE RENOVATION A MORE SUSTAINABLE RESIDENCE. AS MENTION BEFORE WE HAVE INCLUDED EXTERIOR STONE WALL AND WELL AS RAMMED EARTH AS OUR 2 OF OUR 3 PRIMARLY EXTERIOR CLADDING. THE INTENDED USE FOR THE STONE WALL IS TO GIVE THE HOME A MORE MODERN LOOK AND AT THE SAME TIME GIVING THE RENOVATION A CONNECTION FROM THE EXISTING TO THE PROPOSED. NEXT, IS THE RAMMED EARTH WHILE WE DID WANT TO GIVE THIS RENOVATION A MODERN FEEL TO IT WE ALSO WANTED TO INCLUDE SEVERAL SUSTAINABLE FEATURES AND THROUGH WE HAVE OUR SOLAR PANELS AND BAMBOO FLOORING WE ALSO WANTED TO INVLOVE A SUSTAINABLE, RELIABLE AND DURABLE CLADDING. THAT WHEN WE DECIDED TO CHOOSE RAMMED EARTH NOT ONLY DOES IT GIVE A MORE WARM FEELING TO THE HOME BUT IT LOOKS BEST WHEN USE WITH BOTH THE STONE WALL AND THE REKINNING WE PUT ON THE EXISTING. MOREOVER, WE DEICDED TO REKIN THE EXISTING WOOD SIDING WITH A MODERN, DARKER WOOD SIDING IN ORDER TO RESERSH THE OLD AND CONNECT WITH THE NEW.
