The Concept 11
SOAK History Presented by Koala
The regional program began in 1997 as way to build up more local burner communities, eventually those spawned regional burns and SOAK was one of the first. - Flipside (Austin) 1998 - Critical (Seattle) 2003 - SOAK (Portland) 2005 - Soooo many more
We’ve moved around a bit as we’ve grown Justesen Ranch 2015-now Miller Bros 2006-2010 Tidewater Falls 2011 2005 2014 Prindel Creek 2012-2013
And how we’ve grown! In 2005 roughly 300 people attended the first SOAK, in 2015 we had our first sell out year and today we have to cap the population at 1,900 people ! Turnip Man (2005) vs Battle Narwhal (2018)

SOAK*2020 Directed Group Sale In order to support the core social infrastructure of SOAK, we ensure critical theme camps, artists, and infrastructure volunteers have access to targeted ticket sales. Providing these dedicated groups with access to tickets early on allows for their project planning to commence and also decreases demand (and therefore competition) for tickets in the Main Sale. The Directed Group Sale is intended to help pre-identified, established collaborative groups get access to tickets for their critical team members so that they can begin planning their projects.

Art & Camp Placement Camp placement decisions announce early March via email Symposium March 28th and 29th, contact placement@soakpdx.com
