  4. • All students HAVE to study English (Lit and Lang), Maths, Science (combined/triple) and non examined PE. • All students HAVE to study one subject from History, Geography, French or Spanish • All students have THREE more choices from the Options columns • Students who choose to study GCSE PE, will also be required to take part in core PE • Students cannot study both Art & Design and Textiles • Students are able to study both History and Geography; it is not an either/or option • Students do not need to study a language, but these subjects are highly regarded in the world of further education and employment

  5. Questions for tutor time • Will I get to study all my chosen subjects? We hope so, but it may depend on uptake. Most students do, but think about a reserve choice too! • What happens if I don't like the subjects I have chosen? You carry on. Make careful, informed choices now so you don’t regret it later! • If I don't know what I want to do when I leave school, how do I know what subjects to pick? Don’t worry! Most people are like this. Pick a broad and balanced range of subjects which close no doors – go with what you really enjoy.

  6. Final top tips – Do’s and Don’ts!! Do: • Choose subjects you like • Choose subjects you are good at • Think about a change – choose a new subject Don’t: • Choose subjects because your friends are doing them • Choose a subject because you like the teacher • Choose a subject because it is easy in Year 9

  7. Your choice… what you need to do now • Options forms are available for collection after this presentation • You may wish to complete these and hand them in tonight in the box in reception • Final deadline for form submission (to tutors) is Monday 2 nd March
