Goals of the convention The convention is a platform of different perspectives of the topic „inclusion of persons with visual impairments, blindness and multiple impairments. These perspectives concern various different concepts in the fields of pedagogy, social science, medicine, technical and therapeutical disciplines as well as regional, national and cross-national approaches of further development concerning inclusive learning and living of people with disabilities, in order to foster the principles of the UN convention on the rights of people with disabilities. 3

Key Issues • Inclusive region: visions, concepts, findings • Profession: emphasis professions in education - training, settings, profiles • Law and developmental co-operation: information on law issues, jurisdiction, international developmental co-operation • Phases of life: from infant education to seeing at advanced age • Medicine: research, therapy, diagnostics, functional seeing, CVI • Media: technical devices, technologies, learning in media oriented contexts • Inclusive models: inclusive behaving in present-day practice 5
Target audience • Educational staff from universities, colleges, primary and secondary schools – with specialisation in inclusion or special education • Educational staff, scientists and specialised staff in the fields of medical science and technology, ophthalmology, optics, nursing and care, which take part in interdisciplinary national and international projects (f.e. development of optical devices, navigation systems for mobility of blind people etc.) • Graduate and post graduate students in the above listed disciplines • Representatives of associations and umbrella organisations in the fields of impairment, inclusion and care • People with impairments and their relatives • Representatives of public entities, which are dealing with the implementation of the topics of the UN convention, councelling, fostering and dealing with zero barrier approaches 6
Call for Papers Please send your Abstract as an E-Mail attachment (Allowed formats: *.rtf, *.doc; *.docx, *.odt) to office@vbs-2016.at until the 16 th of October, 2015, including the following information: • Format: a) Lecture/Presentation - 20 min. + 10 min. of discussion, b) Discussion round - 90 min . or c) Poster presentation • Allocation to a topic (when applying for a lecture or a discussion round) • Author(s) or leader of the debate round • Title, undertitle (in german and/or english) • Summary of your input (max. 200 words in german or english), stating Question / main issue O Quintessence of your contribution O Basic reasoning of prepared statements (when applying for a discussion round) O 7
Call for Papers Submitted abstracts have a high probability to be chosen, if they • present innovative practice or scientific approaches • fit into one of the different topics • relate to interdisciplinary and/or cross-national works • relate to practice relevant or practice reflecting topics • show the dialogical approach through their authors or moderators 8
